A spokesperson for Google said the company is not releasing any information about the employee or the accident, but issued a short statement on his death.
“We lost a loved and respected member of our team.
“We are deeply saddened and our thoughts are with his family and friends,” the statement read.
The employee is understood to have worked in Google’s UK office.
According to The Guardian, the employee’s family had also travelled to Cannes.
