UK bank holiday weekend weather: Mixed forecast sees sunny spells, showers and frost in parts of the country
Met Office forecast suggests that some areas could experience temperatures as high as 20C

Saturday looks to be the best day of the weekend, with sunny spells and bright patches throughout the United Kingdom before a wetter weather front moves in from the north-west of Scotland bringing showers and blustery winds.
A Met Office spokesperson told The Independent that the best of the weekend’s weather would be in the South-east, in and around London, where prolonged sunny spells could result in temperatures pushing 19 to 20 degrees on Sunday.
“There are certainly some good spells of sunshine and you may catch a break,” they said.
The weather will cool dramatically over Saturday night, with northern and central areas seeing some grass frost, before the wetter weather front moves across the UK.
Even as the wetter weather moves in, there will still be some sunny spells in front and behind the front with the South-east hanging on to the best weather.
Further north the picture is more depressing with Aberdeen and Glasgow struggling to break into the teens and temperatures in these areas hovering around nine to 10 degrees.
“North-west of Scotland see some rain later on Saturday afternoon and that front will slowly sink south east through Sunday – weakening as it goes but bringing showery weather for many on Sunday,” the spokesperson said.
As we enter next week on bank holiday Monday there is an increased risk of showers as another wet front moves across the UK – but again the spokesperson mentioned there would be patches of sun and broadly the temperature would remain high in many parts of the country.
Wind speed and strength will pick up from Saturday, with many parts of the country experiencing blustery conditions as the front moves north east down Britain.
