Your support makes all the difference.Two more as yet unnamed celebrities have reportedly been implicated in sexual abuses allegations stemming from the Jimmy Savile paedophilia scandal.
Mark Williams-Thomas, the child protection expert who presented the recent ITV documentary which uncovered abuse claims against Savile, said he knew of claims against two famous figures who are among 10 people alleged to be “offenders or are accused of having knowledge about Savile’s offending”.
“Some of these names have been forwarded on to police, but others are yet to be passed on. Among those yet to be handed to police are two well-known individuals,” he told the London Evening Standard.
Convicted sex offender and former pop star Gary Glitter has already been arrested in connection with the allegations. Entertainer Freddie Starr has also denied accusations.
Mr Williams-Thomas also said that Surrey Police missed the “best opportunity” to catch Savile while he was alive by failing to interview the former head teacher of the Duncroft children’s home, where he is said to have molested three former residents.
“The 2007 investigation offered the best opportunity to catch Savile,” he told the Daily Telegraph.
“It raises questions about why the one person who could have provided information was not spoken to. She could have provided important background information about the girls and Savile.”
A spokeswoman for Surrey Police said officers spoke to 22 former residents of the home and Barnado’s, which ran the home at the time.
“Barnardo’s had no record of any allegations of sexual abuse reported to staff during this period,” she said.
