From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Commuters are facing yet another day of disruption through the country's busiest interchange at Clapham Junction in south London.

Some Southern Rail services have been cancelled, while others have been delayed. A number of trains will run with fewer carriages than normal, owing to stock displacement.

It follows the chaos on Thursday, which saw thousands of travellers stuck on boiling trains for up to five hours evacuated, after a power cut in the Clapham area.

The Gatwick Express, which was suspended yesterday, is now back in operation.

Network Rail has confirmed that ticket holders for trains running on Thursday, who chose not to travel because of the disruption, will be able to use their ticket today.

Engineers worked throughout the day yesterday to resolve the power outage in time for the evening rush hour, but commuters still faced lengthy delays and will continue to suffer a reduced service on Friday.

On the London Underground meanwhile, there are severe delays on the Victoria line between Walthamstow Central and Seven Sisters and Brixton and Victoria, due to a faulty train.
