From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Motorists were caught up in lengthy tailbacks for several hours following the accident at junction 32 of the M6 northbound near Broughton, Lancashire.
Police said that queues remained up to 15 miles long this evening and nearby Preston was gridlocked with diverted traffic.
The football match between Preston North End and Gillingham was delayed for an hour to allow supporters and the visiting team's coach to arrive at the stadium, Lancashire Police said.
"The chaos is absolutely horrendous," a spokesman said.
"We have managed to escort vehicles that were immediately behind the accident off the motorway and other traffic is being very slowly diverted."
The motorway was closed between junctions 29 and 32 northbound and junctions 32 and 31 southbound.
The accident happened just after 11am and also involved two cars.
