Your support makes all the difference.A London policeman has delivered a baby girl at a Mercedes-Benz showroom, after being frantically waved down by the pregnant woman’s partner.
The couple had been on their way to a hospital in London yesterday afternoon, when they realised the baby would arrive somewhat sooner than they had expected.
The woman's partner alerted Metropolitan Police traffic officer PC Robert Morgan, who had been dealing with a vehicle near the Mercedes-Benz showroom in Newham in south-east London.
PC Morgan acted quickly, and despite telephoning for help, he was forced to help deliver the baby girl inside the showroom.
"We deal with all sorts of incidents," he said. "However I wasn't expecting this today.”
He was helped by the woman’s sister and another officer from Tower Hamlets, PC Christine Goode, who arrived on the scene shortly before the birth.
“The mother was not keen on my suggestion of calling the baby girl Mercedes," he joked.
Mother and baby were later taken to an East London hospital.
