Your support makes all the difference.Two people have been taken to hospital after a car crashed through wire fencing and landed on the tracks at Stirling railway station.
Emergency services and Network Rail took part in the recovery operation at the scene of the incident, which occurred at about 12.15pm.
In a separate accident, just minutes later, a car came down an embankment and almost landed on rail lines in the Highlands.
Network Rail said the second incident happened between Fort William and Mallaig, with the alarm being raised at about 12.20pm. The scene was subsequently cleared just before 2pm — no one was taken to hospital.
Images of the scene in Stirling show a dark Renault Clio car sitting across the station’s tracks, just a short distance from a ScotRail train.
Dozens of police officers were reportedly seen on the platform shortly after the incident took place.
The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed in a statement that two people were taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert.
British Transport Police said there were no serious injuries and no one had been arrested.
Officers will now investigate the incident to determine what happened.
A ScotRail spokesperson said: “Some services to and from Stirling have been subject to delay and alteration while the emergency services attend an incident at the station.”
Members of staff were working “as quickly as they can” to get Platforms 2 and 3 open again, according to a tweet from ScotRail.
