Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. A pregnant British tourist has died at a Spanish airport as she waited to return back to England.

The 21-year-old had been on the Costa Brava to celebrate her grandmother's 70th birthday and was waiting to board a flight departing to Birmingham at Girona airport on Tuesday afternoon.

Witnesses say the woman began to feel dizzy when travelling in a lift from the terminal building to the departure ground. Shortly after she began vomiting and collapsed. Her family members tried to rveive her, but she was dead when doctors arrived, Metro has reported.

Further details about the woman's death were not available.

A Foreign Office spokesperson told Sky News: “We are aware of the death of a British national at an airport in Girona, Spain.

“We are providing consular assistance to the family at this difficult time.”

Catalonia's regional emergency health service said the woman had fainted but was dead by the time an ambulance reached the airport.
