Manchester attack: All the victims confirmed dead after the arena suicide bombing

Tributes have been paid to victims of the suicide bombing at Manchester Arena that killed 22 and wounded 64.

The youngest person known to have died is eight-year-old Saffie Roussos, who was at the concert with her mother.

Of the injured, 20 are still under “critical care” in hospital, some with major organ damage and potential loss of limbs.

Here is what we know so far about the victims:

Teenage sweethearts Chloe Rutherford, 17, and Liam Curry, 19, “wanted to be together forever, and now they are”, their families have said in a statement following their deaths.

“They were perfect in every way for each other and were meant to be. They were beautiful inside and out to ourselves and our families, and they were inseparable,” the families said in a joint statement.

They added: “On the night our daughter Chloe and our son Liam died, their wings were ready but our hearts were not.

“Chloe always described herself as ditzy who Liam adored and would do anything for, including dealing with Chloe’s demands for chocolate.

“They lived to go to new places together and explore different cities. They wanted to be together forever and now they are.”

The 18-year-old Ariana Grande “superfan” was the first victim of the bombing to be confirmed dead.

Described by her friends as a “living angel”, the student from Whittle-le-Woods in Lancashire was on the cusp of finishing the second year of her health and social care course.

Tributes were also paid to 28-year-old Atkinson from Bury in Greater Manchester, who is believed to have died in the attack as he left the venue.

Friends of Mr Atkinson set up a fund for his family, which received more than £1,000 in less than an hour after being established.

The third victim of the bombing to be confirmed was eight-year-old Saffie, described as a “beautiful little girl in every aspect of the world” by her headteacher.

Her mother, Lisa, and older sister, Ashlee, are both reportedly being treated for shrapnel injuries in separate hospitals.

The two mothers were waiting to pick up their 15-year-old daughters in the foyer of the Manchester Arena, where the explosion took place.

Howe, 45, was from Royton, and Lees, 47, was from Oldham. Their daughters are said to be safe.

Olivia’s family spent Tuesday frantically searching for the 15-year-old from Bury.

“RIP my darling precious gorgeous girl Olivia Campbell, taken far, far to soon – go sing with the angels and keep smiling mummy loves you so much,” wrote her mother in a Facebook post in reaction to the news of her death.

The married couple from Poland, who lived in York, both lost their lives in the attack while collecting their two daughters from the concert, who are both safe.

Their daughter Alex, a 20-year-old student, made an appeal on Facebook for the whereabouts of her parents, who had taken a selfie of themselves in the city centre that day.

A 32-year-old from Sheffield, Ms Brewster reportedly died when she “heroically shielded” her young niece and sister from the suicide bomb blast as they left the concert.

She had travelled to the concert with her relatives the day after she put down a deposit on a house with Ian Winslow, her boyfriend, who confirmed her death in a Facebook post.

The death of Martyn Hett, a PR manager from Stockport, was confirmed by his boyfriend Russell Hayward on Twitter.

Mr Hayward said the “iconic and beautiful” 29-year-old, who had a large following on Twitter and had appeared on reality TV shows Come Dine With Me and Tattoo Fixers, had not survived the attack.

Nell, a 14-year-old schoolgirl from Goostrey, a village 18 miles south of Manchester, was at the concert on crutches because of a ligament injury.

One of her classmates was also “badly injured” in the blast, said the headteacher of Nell’s school, Holmes Chapel Comprehensive.

The “truly wonderful” mother-of-three was waiting for a friend’s daughter outside the arena when the suicide bomber struck.

The principal of the school in Blackpool where Jane Tweddle, 51, worked as a receptionist, described her as a “well-loved member of staff”.

Jane Bailey, head of South Shore Academy in Blackpool, said: “Jane was a truly wonderful friend and colleague to all of us at South Shore Academy. As our receptionist, she was in many ways the public face of the school and she represented us amazingly in this role.”

An off-duty female officer was also killed in the blast. Her partner, Paul, is critically ill and their two children were also injured.

The family said in a statement: “Elaine was a much loved daughter, sister, Auntie, friend and colleague, the best we could ever have wished for.

“She was everyone’s friend, thoughtful beyond belief with an effervescent and outgoing personality.”

The family of the 45-year-old woman from Lancashire confirmed Michelle Kiss was killed.

Her niece Laura Murray wrote on Facebook: “It’s true, thank you everyone for your help, we are all heartbroken”.

Ms Kiss, from Lancashire, was “a loving wife to Tony, mother to Dylan, Elliot and Millie, as well as daughter to Mick and Christine and sister to Nichola”, her family said.

They added: “She has been taken away from us, and all that love her, in the most traumatic way imaginable. We hope to draw from the courage and strength she showed in her life to get through this extremely difficult time.”

Fourteen-year-old Eilidh MacLeod had travelled to Manchester from the Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides with a school friend, Laura MacIntyre.

Laura, 15, was seriously injured and is receiving treatment at a Manchester hospital. Eilidh’s family issued a statement confirming her death on Thursday.

The statement said: “Our family is devastated and words cannot express how we feel at losing our darling Eilidh.

“Eilidh was vivacious and full of fun. She loved all music whether it was listening to Ariana or playing the bagpipes with her pipe band.”

Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister of Scotland, told MSPs that family liaison police officers were providing support to the teenagers’ families.

Fifty-year-old mother Wendy Fawell attended the concert with her daughter Charlotte.

Her death was confirmed by a friend on Facebook later that evening.

Debbie McDowell wrote: “I am heartbroken beyond belief. I have lost my best friend and confidante, Wendy Fawell."

The local community in Ms Fawell’s home town, Otley, held a vigil for her on Wednesday night.

Fourteen-year-old Sorrell, a year 9 student at Allerton High School in Leeds, was confirmed dead on Wednesday evening.

She had gone to the concert with her mother and grandmother, who are both being treated for injuries.

Her grandfather told Metro she dreamed of becoming an architect and wanted to study at Columbia University in New York.

He added: “Sorrell was only 14, but she was our rock, she kept us all grounded.”

A 19-year-old student at Leeds Beckett University and her stepfather were killed in the blast, family members said on Thursday.

Ms Boyle, and her stepfather Philip Tron, 32, were both from Gateshead.

The mother of Ms Boyle said: "My stunning amazing beautiful daughter you were my rock, you made me so proud with all you had achieved.

“My gorgeous crazy Philip, you made my world a happy place, and now you are both my angels flying high in the sky.”

The last of the 22 victims has now been named as 15-year old Megan Hurley from Liverpool.

She had attended the concert with her older brother, who survived the bombing with serious injuries.

Helen McDermott, who set up a crowd funding page to cover funeral costs, told The Sun: “People locally thought it would be a good idea to try and help her family, there has been a lot of sympathy and support throughout the community for them.

“We are overwhelmed by how much has been donated.”
