Jobless Wayne Rule, of Marlborough Road, Margate, Kent will appear before Folkestone Magistrates tomorrow morning.

He was arrested this morning after he walked into Dover police station accompanied by his solicitor.

The well-respected 30-year-old traffic officer suffered massive internal injuries after being hit by a car in Shottendane Road, Margate, where he was carrying out speed and drink-drive checks on Monday night.

He died in hospital four hours later.
