Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.A National Lottery jackpot prize of just under £1 million remains unclaimed.
The lucky ticket holder has until 5.30pm on June 16 to claim the money or it will go to good causes.
The ticket was bought in the Vale of White Horse in Oxfordshire for the December 18 draw and the winning numbers were 9, 21, 35, 38, 46, 49, plus a bonus ball of 40.
The ticket matched all six numbers and the winnings totalled £956,813.
A National Lottery spokesman said: "We're desperate to find this mystery ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings - this amazing prize could really make a huge difference to somebody's life.
"We're urging everyone to check their old tickets again or look anywhere a missing ticket could be hiding.
"Try checking in the pockets of clothing, in wallets, bags and down the back of the sofa - someone out there could literally be sitting on a fortune.
"We have the champagne on ice and our fingers crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their win."
Anyone who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws should call the National Lottery Line on 0845 910 0000 within the 180-day deadline.
More than £25 billion has been raised for good causes in the UK through lottery ticket sales since the National Lottery launched in 1994.
These have included arts, sports, heritage, health, education and environmental projects.
