From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Miss Jones, who was a member of the small group of individuals who live to be over 110 - known as super-centenarians, was born on 7 December 1899. She was the sixth oldest person alive in the world before her death today.
Miss Jones, who lived in south-east London, had recently been treated in St Thomas' Hospital after a fall.
Her MP Simon Hughes told the BBC: "Grace's friends and neighbours and the wider Bermondsey community are very sad at the news of Grace's death.
"But we pay tribute to Grace for her wonderful long life, for her commitment to her faith, her family and her community, and we know that a woman of such strong Christian faith faced death with no fear."
Her death aged 113 means Miss Jones was among the oldest people ever to have lived. All but one of the top ten oldest individuals ever are female.
French woman Jeanne Calment, who tops the list, famously reached a verified age of 122 years and 164 days old.
