Jennifer Arcuri has berated by Lorraine Kelly in an awkward exchange during a live TV broadcast.

The US businesswoman appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss her relationship with Boris Johnson, after she was reported over the weekend as saying the prime minister treated her like a “one-night stand”.

But as Kelly took over presenting duties after the interview, she castigated Ms Arcuri - to the apparent surprise of her co-hosts and the businesswoman.

She said: “Yeah, that was crazy. What’s the point, coming down and not answering any questions?”

Piers Morgan then asked a surprised Ms Arcuri if she would like to respond.

Ms Arcuri said: “Well, I believe I said a few things. What is it that you’re looking for that I say?”

Kelly replied: “But you didn’t answer any of the questions that were put to you. I just don’t understand the point in you coming on, to be honest.”

Many on social media voiced support for Kelly, claiming the businesswoman was “milking” the public attention.

One said: “She’s milking it for all it’s worth!”

Another said: “I totally agree with Lorraine, what was the point of coming on it was annoying me actually in the end.. Past should be past in my opinion, unless you’ve committed a crime.”

And another added: “Well what was her point in giving the interview? She moans the press won’t leave her alone and just when we’d forgotten her, up she pops again.”

But others came to Ms Arcuri’s defence and said she was right to highlight potential misconduct by Mr Johnson, saying: “Misconduct in public office is a crime.”

Ms Arcuri has refused to deny having an affair with Mr Johnson while he was mayor of London.

The connection between them has prompted claims that she benefited inappropriately by receiving taxpayer funding for her business. Boris Johnson denies these claims.
