From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 24-year-old's body was discovered floating near San Antonio's port on Sunday afternoon.
He had been reported missing after leaving a party in the resort town during the early hours of Saturday morning.

His sister Lula paid tribute to her “gentle” brother. “I feel so dead inside knowing I'll never see you again,” she wrote.
“Knowing you went on holiday and died in the sea alone... I tried to find you with all my power my love.
“My bro bro, my best friend. You were the best brother and you made me feel important and special.”
She had appealed for information on Mr Lahrichi-Greenwood’s disappearance before his body was discovered.
“If anyone is in Ibiza at the moment (San Antonio) or has seen or is with my brother Anwaar please contact as he's been missing since 3am leaving a party," she wrote in an earlier message.
It marks the third British death in the Ibizan resort of San Antonio in the past few weeks.
