Human remains have been found at a property in London.

Police made the discovery during a search at an address in Nowell Road, Barnes, Richmond, on Friday.

Officers attended after concerns were raised about the welfare of a person who lived there.

An analysis of the remains confirmed they were human.

A post-mortem examination is yet to take place.

The Metropolitan Police’s specialist crime command is investigating.

Inquiries into the circumstances continue, including to establish the identity of the deceased person.

It is understood the case is not expected to be found to be a homicide.
