A nine-year-old girl is in hospital tonight after being repeatedly stabbed outside an Edinburgh cinema.

A nine-year-old girl is in hospital tonight after being repeatedly stabbed outside an Edinburgh cinema.

She was attacked with a knife in the car park of the Fountainpark cinema complex at about 2pm.

Police say a youth aged about 15 was seen running away.

The girl is being treated in the city's Royal Hospital for Sick Children. Her condition is described as "stable".
