German railway chiefs are today showing off a high-speed train of the sort they would like to run between Germany and London by the end of 2013.

The ICE train will be at St Pancras station at an event due to be attended by transport minister Theresa Villiers.

Deutsche Bahn has been carrying out tests in the Channel Tunnel which are reported to have gone well as it seeks to offer services via the tunnel in three years' time.

The Berlin-based operator has apparently carried out fire evacuation tests which went successfully, opening up the potential prospect of an increase in services available between Britain and Europe.
