A 71-year-old man died on board a flight from Dubai to the UK.

A medical team met Emirates Flight EK 21 when it landed at Manchester Airport around 7.30am.

A spokesman for Manchester Airport said: “Manchester Airport can confirm a passenger sadly passed away on an inbound flight this morning.

“Anyone with specific enquiries should contact the airline directly.”

A statement from Greater Manchester Police said the man was found unresponsive by cabin crew and added there were no suspicious circumstances.

No details about the cause of death have been released, though the man was reportedly ill before the flight.

Passengers disembarked from the plane before the man's body was recovered.

An Emirates spokesperson said: “Emirates can confirm that a passenger on board today’s Emirates flight EK 21 from Dubai to Manchester passed away during the flight.
