From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

A reckless driver has been banned after he was caught on dashcam footage flying through the air after hitting a roundabout.

Ryan Lamb, 18, was filmed in his van vaulting a roundabout on the A11, and found guilty of dangerous driving at Norwich Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Lamb, from Beck Row, Suffolk, had denied driving a motor vehicle dangerously.

He was disqualified from driving or obtaining a license for 12 months, was ordered to do an extended retest, pay £310 to the CPS cost, complete 80 hours' unpaid work and pay £85 victim surcharge.

Lamb, who was 17 at the time of the accident, failed to stop his vehicle and launched into the air as he struck the edge of the roundabout.

He was heading to Sundown music festival at the Norfolk Showground when he crashed his silver Citroen Berlingo van.

The court heard Lamb was travelling with two passengers in the car at the time of the crash and suffered only cuts and bruises.
