Around 11 million shoppers were out in force across the UK yesterday, on what was said to be one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

Customers are expected to spend more than £1bn at £1.5m a minute, according the comparison website Kelkoo.

It said that on average consumers will spend £128 on gifts and other goods, taking the family Christmas spend to almost £700.
