The thief was captured on CCTV outside Pheasant Bar pub in Drogheda attempting to break into the car for nearly half an hour before shattering his hopes, and not the window’s glass, with the help of the brick.
After initial attempts to break into the car by throwing stones failed, he decided something a bit bigger was needed.
Giving it one last big effort, the criminal is seen hurling a brick at the driver’s window from just a couple of metres away.
Trying to be helpful, he offered to ring the police and ambulance.
Mr Brady quickly became suspicious though, when the thief refused his help and his wife spotted damage to the paint work of Mr Brady’s brand new Mercedes.
When he tried to call the police, Mr Brady said that the thief then tried to blackmail him.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Mr Brady said: "He pulled himself up and said he wanted €50 for a taxi
"I said, ‘Not a chance, I’ve to pay for a new window, mate.
“That’s when he leaned in and told me he’d burn me out of the pub.”
Escaping to a nearby petrol station Mr Brady was eventually able to contact the police, who he said found the incident very amusing.
"You should have heard (them) laughing when they saw the video," Brady said.
"They were in stitches."
The police arrested a man, and the investigation is ongoing.
Since being uploaded onto YouTube for the first time in January, the hilarious video has seen over 2million people view the “Thick with a Brick’s” hilarious attempt at stealing Mr Brady’s car.
