From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Some people appear to treat their cars as a home from home.

Doing their make-up, singing loudly and it appears, sometimes, tucking into their breakfast.

Astonishing footage published by a cyclist on YouTube appears to show a driver eating their cornflakes while overtaking bikes on the streets of Edinburgh.

The footage was shot by a YouTube user calling themselves 'Raging Biker', who says he rides 'around 5000 miles a year' while commuting to work.

The video was posted to the site along with the following description: "I guess if you are hungry then why not eat a bowl of cereal as you drive. How did he do this?

He must have planned to exit his house, climb into the car (no hands?) with a bowl of cereal and milk....who does that???"

The footage appears to show the driver holding a bowl of cereal and steering using one hand.

The cyclist then catches up with the driver at the lights and the resulting clip shows them driving with their breakfast bowl in their lap.

In response to the video a spokesman for the AA said: "It's pretty stupid. It's unbelievable."

"For some people, their car in a way becomes their home and they behave in such a way that they would in their house."

"People just don't seem to have the willpower not to do things they know are wrong, like turning their phone off or not eating a sandwich while driving."
