The accident happened on the flyover on Straight Mile, in Rugby, Warwickshire, shortly before 4.30pm yesterday when the Ford Mondeo the boy was travelling in collided with a black Mercedes estate.
A five-year-old boy, who was also in the silver Mondeo, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A 42-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman who were in the front of the Mondeo suffered serious injuries and are being treated in hospital.
The man who was driving the Mercedes suffered a number of minor injuries, but was not taken to hospital.
