Passengers will not be allowed to fly unless they undergo full body scans, the Transport Secretary has announced.

Justine Greening, the Transport Secretary, said travellers accepted the need for such checks, and added that body scanner trials would be rolled out across Britain. The security devices are already in use at Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester airports.

Technology being developed would enable machines to analyse images, so that staff would not be looking at pictures of passengers' bodies, Ms Greening said.
