CCTV has captured the moment a knife-wielding assailant slashed the face of a man during an attack in London.

The attacker, accompanied by others, approached a 21-year-old man with the weapon kept behind his back.

He then said something to the victim before lashing out.

As he backs away in the video, the attacker then appears to shout something at the victim, pointing his knife towards him as he does. The group then all left on bikes.

Officers reported to the scene in Northolt, north-west London.

Detectives say the victim was slashed across the left side of his face.

He was taken to a hospital in east London where he was treated for the knife wound.

Police are looking for people to come forward with information regarding the attack, which occurred on May 1 at 6.24pm.

The suspect is described as a black man wearing blue jeans, a blue jumper and black jacket.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
