From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The supermarket chain said two people had complained about the George Baby denim dungarees after a small metal component of the clasp came loose.
No children had been harmed, but the retailer was recalling the entire line "as a precaution", a spokeswoman said.
The dungarees sold for £8 and were available for babies aged from birth to 24 months.
About 2,000 pairs had been sold over the last five to six weeks.
Asda said in a statement: "We've been alerted there's a problem with our baby denim dungarees and that the stopper on the clasp comes off too easily.
"As the care and safety of our customers is a priority, we have withdrawn all sizes of the product and are recalling the dungarees as a precautionary measure. No other items in our ranges are affected.
"It goes without saying we're sorry for the inconvenience caused."
The retailer advised those who had bought the item to return it for a full refund.
