Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The organisation said 50p from every box would be donated to the charity Help for Heroes, which helps wounded servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.
It is the first time in Naafi's 90-year history that its UK-made tea has been available on the high street. It will feature retro-style packaging and will be followed later in the year by a range of memorabilia to mark the 90th anniversary of Naafi.
Chief executive Reg Curtis said: "Our famous Naafi tea has been the beverage of choice for the British Armed Forces since 1921 and we are delighted it is widely available for everyone to enjoy for the first time in our history.
"With 50p from the sale of each Naafi Break box of tea going to Help for Heroes, the general public will be able to enjoy our tea knowing their purchase is goingtowards helping our troops."
