A man and his five-year-old daughter died yesterday in a fire at a flat they were visiting in Greenock, Strathclyde.

Seven others were injured, including the girl's brother and two sisters, and police said they were treating the fire at the block in Maple Road as suspicious. The dead were named as Andrew Newman, 35, and Emma Newman.
