The chief executive of a non-league football club has been arrested midway through a crunch end-of-season match for using threatening words and behaviour.
Carolyn Still became the youngest chief executive in English football last September when she was appointed by Mansfield Town aged 29. She was held during the team's Blue Square Bet Premier play-off semi-final against York City on Wednesday night. She was later cautioned outside York's Bootham Crescent stadium for her behaviour.
The club's owner and chairman John Radford, to whom she is engaged, said she had been "reprimanded for a verbal retort to a police officer," adding that it had been "blown totally out of proportion over a light-hearted, hot-headed quip in defence of our player".
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police confirmed that she was arrested at 9pm before receiving an caution and being released.
Mansfield held York to a 1-1 draw, with the second leg due to be held at their ground on Monday.
