A man has died after he was stabbed several times during an attack in south London.

The victim, believed to be in his early 20s, was knifed during an incident in a garage area in Tellson Avenue, Woolwich, on Wednesday afternoon, Scotland Yard said.

Ambulance crews were called to the scene at around 2.40pm and the man was taken to hospital, where he died several hours later.

The victim’s next of kin have been informed. Officers have yet to make any arrests in connection with the killing.

The latest incident follows a string of fatal attacks across the capital in recent days, with the Metropolitan Police launching four murder investigations within the space of 48 hours over the weekend.

A man in his 20s was discovered dead in Wembley, west London, on Sunday evening after he had suffered serious head injuries.

This death followed two days after a fatal shooting in the same area, in which 32-year-old Craig Small was gunned down in Harrow Road.

No arrests have been made in connection with either killing.

Earlier on Sunday, on the other side of the city, a man in his 20s was killed during another shooting at a snooker club in Leyton.

Two men in their 20s have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with this incident.
