Woolwich manhunt: Met police search for suspect after woman stabbed in back in London
Peter Morley, 35, wanted after woman knifed several times in broad daylight attack
Police are hunting a man suspected of stabbing a woman in the back during an attack in south London.
Officers are trying to trace Peter Morley for questioning following an incident in Woolwich on Monday morning.
The public have been urged not to approach the 35-year-old, who is understood to have known the victim.
The woman, who is in her thirties, was transferred by air ambulance to a central London hospital, after police arrived at Anglesea Road and found her suffering from stab wounds.
The Metropolitan Police said the victim had been knifed several times in her back during the attack, although her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
“It is important that we locate Mr Morley quickly and without further incident and I urge anyone who sees him not to hesitate but to call police without delay,” said the Met’s DCI Lesley Hamilton.
“Officers remain at the scene and additional patrols are being conducted to provide reassurance to the public while the search for Peter Morley is undertaken.”
Police in Greenwich have closed roads and established a crime scene in the street where the attack took place.
No arrests have been made in connection with the investigation and enquiries continue.
