Woman raped at Latitude festival
Women attending the Latitude music festival have been warned to travel in groups rather than singly after a teenager was gang raped.
The 19-year-old woman told police she was grabbed and raped by a group of three or four males after she got lost and asked for directions. She had been in a tent with friends at the festival in Suffolk, but left to find a toilet. The victim, from Norwich, was attacked at about 10pm on Thursday night and once the group of men had fled she was able to find her way back to her friends who raised the alarm.
Detectives said yesterday that they are examining CCTV footage and are liaising with the festival organisers as they hunt for the four males.
The police said in a statement: "She lost her bearings and spotted a group of around three or four males – including one with short dark curly hair – who she approached to ask for directions. The males said they would show her they way and they walked for some distance before the 19-year-old was grabbed by the males and raped."
