A woman who was found dead at her Berkshire home was a carer for her wheelchair-bound husband, neighbours have said.

Thames Valley Police were called to the three-bedroom semi-detached house in Mulberry Walk, Maidenhead, at 8.17pm on Friday evening, where they found the body of the 41-year-old.

She has been named locally as Alison Taylor.

A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been released on police bail until 15 May.

A spokesman for the force said that a post-mortem carried out on Saturday was unable to establish a cause of death.

Toxicology tests have been ordered to examine possible causes, the spokesman said.

A resident, who did not wish to be named, said that Ms Taylor had four children.

She said: "Nobody knows the circumstances yet. There were flowers left outside the house earlier.

"I only knew them because their children used to hang around with mine.

"She wasn't disabled but her husband was and she would look after him."

A note on a bunch of flowers left outside the house read: “Alison, RIP. A beautiful woman in chains. XXX.”

The police spokesman said further toxicology tests have been requested by the pathologist.

He added: "Formal identification of the woman is yet to take place.

"Thames Valley Police is continuing to treat the death as unexplained at this stage of the investigation.

"A scene watch is still in place at the address in Mulberry Walk."
