Woman denies beating husband to death
A woman suspected of bludgeoning her estranged husband to death denied his murder when she appeared in court today.
The body of Richard Challen, 61, was found dead at his Surrey home on August 15.
His wife Sally, 56, was found later that day at a cliff edge at Beachy Head, East Sussex.
She was arrested and charged with his murder.
Challen, an office manager from Claygate, near Esher, was remanded in custody this morning when she appeared at Guildford Crown Court.
A trial date was set for May 3.
Retired car dealership owner Mr Challen, also from Claygate, died of severe blunt force trauma to the head, a post-mortem examination showed.
