Woman arrested for Syria related terror offences was travelling with two children
The woman has been bailed and the children are being looked after by social services
A woman who was arrested on suspicion of Syria-related terror offences at a London airport yesterday was travelling to the UK with two children. She has been bailed pending further police inquiries.
The 25-year-old woman, from Haringey, London, was arrested at Luton Airport at 11:30 on Wednesday morning as she arrived on a flight from Istanbul.
She was questioned by officers from the West Midlands counter-terrorism unit and released on conditional bail last night until a date in March.
The two children who were travelling with the woman are being looked after by social services, a spokesperson for West Midlands police said.
Police said the woman was bailed to an address outside the West Midlands.
She was interviewed on suspicion of preparing for acts of terrorism and has been bailed subject to several conditions, including a curfew and requirements to report to a police station and surrender her passport.
