Two people arrested over the shooting of a mother-of-three and her partner will face no further action, detectives have said.

West Midlands Police said a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman who were held in connection with the deaths of Clare Sly, 39, and Derrick Vassell, 43, have had their bail cancelled and they face no charges.

Ms Sly and Mr Vassell were found dead at a house in Laneside Gardens in Walsall, West Midlands, at 1.37am on Friday June 8.

Post-mortem examinations revealed that Ms Sly suffered one gunshot wound, while her partner suffered two gunshot injuries.

Shortly after their deaths detectives confirmed they were examining the possibility that Ms Sly committed suicide following the murder of Mr Vassell.

A force spokesman added: "A file is now being prepared for the coroner and an inquest will be opened in due course."
