Two men have been arrested following an appeal to track down “pink fairies” involved in a homophobic attack on Halloween.

Robbie Kingsford, 21, was hospitalised with his injuries after the incident in Surbiton, south-west London, in the early hours of Saturday.

His father, Brian, launched a Facebook appeal to trace witnesses after the incident, which also left another 18-year-old man needing treatment.

Police said the attackers were wearing pink tutus at the time.

“Two 26-year-old men have now been arrested in connection to the homophobic attack on two men in Surbiton in the early hours of Saturday, 1 November,” a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said.

“Both were arrested on Tuesday, 4 November on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and common assault.

“They have since been bailed to return to a west London police station in mid December pending further inquiries.”

Robbie, who was shown in a photo from hospital with a bloody, bruised and swollen face, thanked the almost 500 members of the group for sending tip-offs and spreading the appeal.

“Thank you again and I hope one day I can return the favour and help you all somehow,” he wrote.
