The bodies of two people have been found at a house in South Wales.

A 71-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman were discovered at a property in Claerwen Close, Cwmbach, in Aberdare, on Tuesday.

South Wales Police said it was treating the deaths as "unexplained".

A spokeswoman said: "Investigations are ongoing following the deaths of two people at a property in Cwmbach on Tuesday.

"While it is not yet known how these persons died, we are treating the deaths as unexplained."

Police said they expect to find out how the man and woman died following a post-mortem, which is due to take place tomorrow.

It is believed the pair had not been dead for a long period of time when they were discovered.

The spokeswoman added HM Coroner and the next of kin had been informed, and that officers were not appealing for witnesses.
