Police are hunting for a man who may have "vital information" about a pensioner's wallet that was stolen as he suffered a fatal heart attack.

The 66-year-old was waiting at Hastings Station late on 28 August when he suffered a cardiac arrest, British Transport Police said.

They added: "His wallet was taken, however despite the best efforts of paramedics the man later passed away."

The victim was identified to the Hastings and St Leonards Observer as David Edward Lovett.

His son Rich told the newspaper his father was returning from a show when he collapsed.

He added: "It's the lowest of the low, it's absolutely disgusting. I'm very angry that someone has done this to my father when he was on death's door."

Police have released a photograph of a man they want to speak to in connection with the theft, "because they believe he may have information which could help officers investigate."

Anyone who recognises the man should call British Transport Police on 0800 405040, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
