Tetra Pak heirs charged over cocaine and heroin

The heir to the multibillion-pound Tetra Pak drinks carton empire, Hans Kristian Rausing, and his wife, Eva, have been charged with possession of class A and class C drugs.

The couple were arrested in April after Mrs Rausing allegedly tried to smuggle small amounts of crack cocaine and heroin into the American embassy in London. Their house, in Chelsea, south-west London, was subsequently searched.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that Eva Louise Rausing, 44, and Hans Kristian Anders Rausing, 45, were charged yesterday. They were bailed to appear at Westminster magistrates' court on 29 July.

Mr Rausing's father, also called Hans, is the Swedish founder of Tetra Pak and is worth a reported £5.4bn.
