East London property searched as man arrested on suspicion of terrorism acts

Police say 21-year-old man is being held following arrest at residential address

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in east London on suspicion of the "commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism", police have said.

The man, who has not been named, is being held by the Metropolitan Police following his arrest at a residential address on Saturday morning.

He was detained under the Terrorism Act 2000 and has been taken to a south London police station where he currently remains in custody, a statement said.

An investigation is ongoing and the east London address is being searched by officers.

Police did not provide any further details on the arrest.
