Ten charged with murdering teenage cadet

Ten people were charged tonight with the murder of a teenage Army cadet, police said.
Joseph Lappin, 16, was knifed through the heart in Everton, Liverpool, last October.
Tonight, a Merseyside Police spokesman said the six adults and four juveniles were also charged with the grievous bodily harm of Joseph's friend Callum Naden, 17, who was also stabbed.
The 10 will appear at Liverpool City Magistrates' Court in the morning.
The juveniles' details have not been released but the adults are: Colin Cain, 20, of Barmouth Way, Anthony Smith, 22, of Heriot Street; Anthony Preston, 21, of Eldonian Way; Colin Yell, 21, of Snowdon Lane; John McDonald, of 21, Wilcock Close; and Thomas Riding, 18 years, of Houlgrave Road.
All are from the north Liverpool district of Vauxhall and were arrested yesterday after a series of police raids.
Joseph Lappin was murdered on 20 October last year after being chased by a gang.
He had enjoyed a night with friends at the Shrewsbury House Youth Club in Everton.
It was the first time he attended the church building and was there to support a friend's band.
He and Callum Naden were waiting for a lift home when they were confronted and chased back to the youth club where they sought safety.
But Joseph, a member of the Liverpool Scottish Regiment, received a fatal stab wound and Callum was knifed twice.
Police said he was lucky to survive.
Last week an inquest into Joseph's death was adjourned after Detective Inspector Lawrence Forrest told the the court the investigation was "continuing satisfactorily".
