A drama teacher who smeared Nutella over the naked body of an "“infatuated" 14-year-old pupil has been jailed for 20 months.

Andrew Victor Willson, a teacher at Fearns High in Bacup, Lancashire, at the time, is said to have taken the youngster out of school for the encounter, the Lancashire Telegraph reports.

However, the court heard how he returned the girl to school in time to catch the bus home so her parents did not realise what had happened.

The relationship, which started when the girl was in year eight, was believed to be consensual, as the girl was “infatuated” with the “trendy, young teacher”, prosecutor Emma Kehoe said.

The teenager excelled at drama and began to spend more time with the teacher both in and out of school as he cast her in lead roles in plays.

The first indecent assault occurred in Willson’s office at the school, where he apparently kissed the girl and "rubbed her all over".

Following this, Willson is said to have given the girl lifts home in which he kissed the girl and, on two occasions, she performed a sex act on him.

The father-of-one is also said to have befriended the girl’s parents over a shared interest in Leeds United football club.

On one occasion Willson, 48, kissed and groped the girl after she and her family had visited him and his wife in their house.

The pair had full consensual sex for the first time following this visit, for which Willson was not charged.

Speaking about the victim, Ms Kehoe told the court: "As soon as any contact between them began, she felt butterflies in her stomach."

"She was happy and loving the attention.

"She does not say anywhere that she was not fully co-operating with what she saw as a relationship with her teacher."

Willson, who now lives in Church Hall, Hollowell, Northampton, pleaded guilty to five offences of indecent assault which took place in the mid-1990’s when the pupil was aged 14 or 15.

Willson, who the defence said had already lost his job, reputation and marriage, was reportedly anxious about losing his home as he is the main carer for his severely disabled 23-year-old son.

However, Judge Jonathan Gibson, who said he had given consideration to this, concluded: “It seems to me, given the pupil-teacher relationship that simply cannot be.”
