Teacher Philip Lawrence killer's trial collapses

A robbery trial involving the man who murdered the headteacher Philip Lawrence in London in 1995 has collapsed because of a series of delays.

Learco Chindamo, 30, was accused of robbing a man in Camden, north London, last November. He denied the charge, as did Gregory Jananto, 32, and Saeed Akhtar, 32.

Their trial started at Blackfriars Crown Court on Monday but was abandoned yesterday because the case could not have concluded in the time available. A fresh trial opens on 3 August.
