Stabbing victim 'named his killer in dying words to wife'
A stabbing victim named his killer with his dying words in a phone call to his wife, a court heard today.
Moses Devall was stabbed through the chest last October, allegedly by Jimmy Saunders.
The 36-year-old victim, who had a 15-year-old daughter, was attacked after two earlier violent incidents in Orpington, Kent, the Old Bailey heard.
Aftab Jafferjee QC, prosecuting, said: "It was while he was on the phone speaking to his wife that his assailant attacked.
"He uttered his killer's name to his wife, perhaps the last words he would utter.
"That is the basis on which the Crown say the identity of his killer can be proved. He said 'Jimmy Saunders'."
Saunders, 20, of Sidcup, denies murder. He and five other defendants deny charges relating to the earlier alleged violence.
