A man who was attacked in the street in north-east London is fighting for his life in hospital.
He was reportedly punched during a fight in George Lane, South Woodford, in the early hours of Saturday, according to the Standard.
The man, who is thought to be in his 30s, is currently being treated in an east London hospital for critical head injuries.
Officers said they were called to the scene at about 1.30am.
A Met Police spokesman said: “The man, believed aged in his 30s, was taken to an east London hospital for treatment to head injuries - he remains there in a critical condition.
“Enquiries into the circumstances continue.”
Some Londoners took to Twitter to ask why the high street had been closed off.
Restaurants have been sealed off behind police tape as a large police presence remained in the area on Saturday morning.
No arrests have been made.
