Police hunting for a missing 13-year-old have found a body.

Sophie Clark was last seen leaving her home in Sherborne, Dorset, on Tuesday night.

She left the house in Acreman Place at 6pm and told her parents she was going for a walk and would be back at 8pm.

Police using dogs and a helicopter launched a search for Sophie in the local area.

Officers said the teenager may have been "upset or worried" when she left home but her disappearance was out of character.

A body, which is believed to be the teenager, was discovered in woods off Dancing Hill in Sherborne on Wednesday.

A Dorset Police spokeswoman said: "Formal identification has not yet taken place but Sophie's family have been informed of this tragic update and are being supported by officers. The death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.

"Enquiries are under way to establish the circumstances leading to her death on behalf of the coroner."
