A "potentially armed" man is on the loose in Somerset after a shooting which left one person dead and another injured.

Charlie Broadway, 23, poses a risk to the public and should not be approached, following the incident on Thursday night, Avon and Somerset Police said.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the inquiry, which Chief Superintendent Jon Reilly described as a “fast-moving investigation”.

Detectives said two men were shot at a home near Ilton, north of Ilminster, Somerset, shortly before 8pm.

One was pronounced dead at the scene and a second is being treated for "non life-threatening" injuries.

Mr Reilly said: “A full investigation is under way into this serious incident involving a firearm which we believe is of a domestic nature."

Due to the gravity of what happened, Charlie Broadway is potentially armed and as a result poses a risk to the public."

Broadway was missing overnight into Friday morning and police said the situation was ”very fluid“.

Force incident manager Rob Pearson said: ”The bottom line is it is still ongoing. We have not located the man.

“It is a very tricky and dangerous situation.”

He said a team of detectives was working to track down Broadway.

The public have been advised to call 999 to report any sightings, quoting log number "1051 of 5 May".
