Sheffield hit-and-run: Police urge motorist to 'think about victim's family' and come forward
Police have launched an investigation after a 14-year-old girl was killed in a hit-and-run collision on Friday, which also left a 12-year-old seriously injured. The dead teenager, named yesterday as Jasmyn Chan, was from the Richmond Park area of Sheffield where the accident happened. Police have not named the injured 12-year-old.
Senior officers asked the motorist to consider Jasmyn's family, as they issued a direct appeal for him or her to come forward. Chief Inspector Stuart Walne of South Yorkshire Police said yesterday: "This situation is even more upsetting as the driver didn't stop at the scene. I would urge them to think about the impact on Jasmyn's family, friends and community, and please come forward."
Officers have said the car has been described as possibly green and a Volkswagen or a Honda. Mr Walne said that it will have damage to the front and the driver's offside. It was travelling towards the A57 Mosborough Parkway.
