Police urge witnesses to come forward 'to get to the bottom of this tragic incident'
A woman has been arrested after a man died following a street fight in Rochdale.
Greater Manchester Police said the 25-year-old woman was detained after officers launched a murder investigation.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, died in hospital on Friday after police were called to reports of an ongoing fight in Berwick Street shortly before 9pm.
Detective superintendent Howard Millington said: "We are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances around the incident and I would appeal for anyone with any information or anyone who witnessed the incident that took place to contact us as a matter of urgency.
"I would also like to reassure people in the local area that I don't believe this was a random incident and there will be an increased police presence in the area, along with detectives who will ensure a thorough investigation takes place to get to the bottom of this tragic incident.
"My thoughts are with family and friends of the young man involved at this difficult time."
